The safety joint is the core tool for protecting the downhole operation string. In the event of accidents, drill jamming, or failure to release the packer, the tool below the safety joint can be released by rotating the string, lifting the string, or throwing the ball to hold pressure, and the string above the safety joint can be lifted out to facilitate subsequent salvage operations.
